80%

Are we for real?!
80% of what we eat is how we look.
This concept is by far the hardest thing for me to grasp.
It needs to soak in.
Soak in real nice and deep.
I love to work out hard. Make my mind suffer. My sweat drip. My muscles ache.
But food... Can't resist the stuff.

I want to try.
I want to try hard.

I have done it once before.
I ate when I was hungry.
Truly hungry.
And when I ate it was good healthy stuff,
not like the yummy Ghiradelli chocolate squares like last night.

So here is to 80% of what we look like.
I can do this.
You better believe I AM going to do this!

And if not for anything else... I have a 1/2 marathon I want to do well in.
Do I dare say under 2 hours?
That may be absolute insanity talking.
We shall see.

Until then.
Happy 80% to look 120%!!

Holiday munching

My sister-in-law, Tam, got me hooked to Turbo Jam.
It's such a fun great workout that usually flies by.

The creator of Turbo Jam, Chalene,
has a blog and her posts are always inspiring.

I especially like today's post about
holiday munchies and weight gain.
Heaven knows I need all the advice I can on
keeping my eating in check this month.

Level 1

There are three levels in 30 Day Shred.
I thought I was going to die on level 2.

I am now on the second round of doing the 30 Day Shred again
And I am more in love with it than before.
I feel it more this second time.

Running this week felt great.
Except this past Saturday when phlem was my worst enemy.

It begins again

I just had a week off from Jillian.
And I can't wait to start the challenge again.
This time included in my challenge is... running.

They say to lift weights and such to make you a better runner.
I am finally a believer.
Since doing Jillian I have been better at running,
I don't get weird aches,
and I actually enjoy it!

Would you like to join me?

I know no one reads this blog.
And that is ok with me.
But if some random person does read this blog,
do this with me.
You will not regret it!

Sticking to it

Have you ever started something and it's fun the first week or two weeks, and then you just don't want to do it anymore.
That is how I usually am with working out things.
Not this time! No way bub!
I have stuck with this program and I am so excited to say that I only have a week and a half left!
Go me!
I recommend the 30 day shred DVD.
It is hard.
It is intense.
And it kicks your butt!

What is your favorite workout?

Week 1 Down

And boy was it good.
You know when you want to give up, somehow Jillian knows and yells at you to keep going.
It is awesome.

I did miss a day. Lazy bones came out and wanted to play. So I played lazy bones all Saturday afternoon instead of my workout, but don't worry I got my boo-tay pulverized today when I started level 2. I wanted to kill lazy bones for being so fun!

On to week 2. A good week it will be! Hope I start seeing changes in my boo-tay soon!

30 Day Challenge

My friend Amy calls me and always asks which new fad I am on.
I am a sucker for fads and usually never last more than 4 days. But I have put myself on the 30 day challenge. I made a calendar of the next 30 days and listed out my workouts.
The main goal is to stick with this new workout dvd I got of Jillian Michaels. I am going to do 30 day shred as well as some other form of exercisers... running, turbo jam, p90x cardio. Hopefully I can push myself back to the physical strength I like of myself.

It's going to get monotonous, hard, dragging, but I know I will feel so good about myself each day I can cross out a day done, a week done, and most importantly a full 30 days!!

Today was awesome. Jillian Michaels kicks some major butt! I love it!! And I have missed my Turbo Jam and it was awesome to do the 20 min blast today.

Pushing it

You know when you start to begin something again you feel so sluggish at first.
The feat seems almost impossible.
The goal could not be further away.
But keeping at it day by day you start feeling your lungs increase, your heart slows, and your muscles keep pounding at the pavement.

It has been an adjustment getting back into the swing of running a lot.
But I have been enjoying the task.
At times I would much rather sit back and watch a classic Saved By the Bell show.
And it is frustrating like yesterday when I went running and only completed 3.5 of the 4.2 I set out to do.
But pain is temporary and quitting is forever.
The point is I did the 3.5.
Sure I may not be to the level and stamina I have been in the past and hope to be in a short 3 weeks time.
All I can do is try.
Such is life.
Do your best, try hard, and keep a smile on your face.

The inspiring thing of trying and pushing yourself is the way you feel at the end of the day when you reflect on what you did. You know you set out and pushed your mind, body, and soul. It may have been pushed a lot further than the last time or non at all but you did it. That's what brings me happiness. And happiness in running is doing it. Getting out there and trying and you will succeed!!

Happy Tuesday!

2 down... a lot to go!

Finally hit the pavement again.

It. Felt. Good.

I only got 2 miles in. But 2 miles is more than nothing! It felt good to run on the streets. To push my heart and my lungs and my whole body. It's been a good couple of weeks since I have ran.

I am signed up for the Golden Leaf Half Marathon on September 26. I have 4 weeks to be 13.1 miles ready. Can I do it? Yes. Am I a wee bit nuts for not training sooner? Probably. But that's the joy in exercising and running. Is to push yourself past that point that you think you can't go more and when the point is breached a whole new world is opened!
