Due to husbands poor kidney stone
and a very long hospital day
my running was non-existent last weekend.
Which made me nervous for this week.
No headphones when I got to the gym
... to run on a treadmill
.... for 4 miles!
GASP!
But it's cool.
 I did the 2 miles
2 min run /2 min run REALLY fast
It went surprising well.
Way to go body.
Way to go mind.
Up next:
Tomorrows 4 miler
Secretly I am excited!!

Mind over matter

Yesterdays 3 mile run went pretty well.
I am working on keeping my mind
positive about my runs to keep my body strong.
Running on the treadmill is not always
easy due to the constant calculation of time
and mileage that has been run.

In due light of having a weak mindset during a
run and a body getting tired
intervals are my friend!
These are always fun to do when you get
bored doing the weekly runs.
And it sure helps you in the sense
of getting your body's endurance stronger.
Weekly runs are my friend!

The first long run

Saturday was the first long run
since a VERY long time.
It was challenging.
It was exhilarating.
The runs during the week sure
do help with getting those long
runs accomplished on Saturdays.

I use to always feel I had to have
certain music to run to, but
James helped me make the play list
this time and it sure was stellar.
One awesome song or soundtrack
to run to is Mama Mia.

Singing while running isn't
always pretty, but sure helps
rejuvenate you!

I am going to research
this week is the best way to help
your legs recover after those long runs.
The easier recovery the BeTtEr!!

How was your long run?

Long Run Saturdays

The long runs have begun!
The 4 miles on Saturday went fairly well
I had to stop to go to the bathroom
and the last mile seemed rough after
that bathroom break.

The goal was accomplished for the Saturday long run
and now I look forward to this week.

It gets hard to get your weekly runs in
when your week gets busy.
From learning from past experience
it is best in the end to make the time
and get those weekly runs in.
Sticking to the schedule is key.

Running and Zumba

Did I mention how hard it is to jump
back into training and running?
Cause it totally is.

Last night was my first run this week,
and considering this week there are only
two scheduled runs... I feel ok about that.
The 3 miles went suprisingly well.
I don't know if it was the awesome
songs I was listening to.
Or the stories I was making up about
the people in the gym around me.
But the 3 miles wizzed by and
it felt so good to have that accomplished that run.

As I was doing some muscle excercises after my run
a new gym class started... ZUMBA
I went over to the glass to see what it
was all about and after 5 minutes of watching
I couldn't keep myself out of that room.

Zumba is AMAZING!!
It's a fun excercise class that mixes
all these different latin rythms and
dance techniques into a fun workout.
I was asked to certify on Feb 21st
Hopefully I will be able to certiry then
because Zumba is one workout I just got addicted to.

Getting the train going

I find the hardest part about training is
starting the routine and sticking with it.
Mornings would be perfect to get up
early and run at the gym before work.
But everytime I have tried that one,
my alarm ends up waking James up
and I sleep right through it's buzzing.

Here is to this week:
Tuesday - Run 3 miles
Wednesday - Cross Train { Zumba class at the gym}
Thursday - Sports Conditionnig {great class at the gym}
Saturday - Run 4 miles {or the 5k}

My goal is to finally get to my goal weight
that I have always wanted to be.
Running and cross training will be good at reaching that goal!
I don't know if I am brave enough to put how
much I want/need to loose to get there.
So if you're looking into starting to run
or get in shape...
let us fight this beast together!

Interesting trick

Here is an interesting trick for the day
Drink chocolate milk within 30 min
after you finish your run.
It has great carbohydrates and protein
that your body needs to recover.
Not a believer?
Try it!
It does wonders
*Article found here
The 3 miles didn't go as planned yesterday
It's hard getting back into shape
But I did it.
I may have speed walked at a VERY steep incline
for some of the time
But I did it.
Hopefully tonights running goes better

The time has come

To put on your running shoes
and get out there and RUN!
We have 13 weeks till the
Salt Lake City 1/2 marathon.
The training will be hard
The commitment will be rough
But the race will be worth it!

Tonight is cross training.
I will be doing Turbo Jam.

This blog will help
keep me on track with training
accountable to myself {and the one reader}
and hopefully shed some unwanted lbs
